First you have to know that, In what sense you are judging them. If you think whichs book is greatest in the sense of literature. Then you should know they are not 'literary writer'. They both are 'commercial writer'. Their books will not take place in the list of world literature. They are not writing for gaining Nobel Prize or Manbooker. They are writing for earning. So, you can't judge them in the sense of literature. If you think whichs reader is much. Then, Sidney is best. His selled book is 500 million copy. But Stiphens selled book is 300 million. Sidney is more familiar than stiphen. If you think whichs book is greatest. Then, I'll say it depends on you. I can give you some clue- Sidneys telling type is faster. But Stiphens telling type is slower. If you want to read Sidneys book, you can not control your mind. It'll forbid your sleep and eat. It's for beginners and for all levels reader.
