LeadershipSkill : what must have in a leader

1. Honesty :

A leader must be honest. He have to do what he says. But sometimes we see some leader doesn’t have honesty but they are leader. Well, see it'll not bring good result at all. Because, people don't believe them. Or history will remember them as a bad person.
Here a quote-

"  In fact, one EY study shows that 81 percent of C-level executives reported that they have policies and codes of conduct in place. But over half of these executives also reported that those who broke policies and breached codes of conduct were never penalized. Five percent of these executives admitted that they would misstate financial performance to if it would help them survive financial troubles, proving that unethical practices seemed to be accepted at some level.

Another study at the University of Massachusetts found that 60 percent of people lie at least once in the course of a ten-minute conversation. And many of these people tell two or three lies within that ten minutes. If you think you don’t do this at all, pay close attention to yourself the next time you’re in a conversation – especially one at a dinner party or social gathering (where we tend to embellish in one way or another).

If you’re perceived as dishonest, your reputation will be sullied. No one will want to buy your products or services again. This result must not convince some, because we see what continues to happen around us. People think they will never get caught, or they justify their deception with the promise of improving profits. Even though some leaders and employees are aware of the risks, they are choosing to engage in these activities anyway."

Then you think people won't believe you. Team mates won't make believe in themselves.

2. Courage -

A leader must have courage. He have to be brave to launch new Ideas. A leader who doesn’t have courage, he'll never success. Here a little story-

When Mulally arrived at Ford, he found a depleted organization losing $18 billion that year and unwilling to address its fundamental issues. To retool Ford’s entire product line and automate its factories, Mulally borrowed $23.5 billion, convincing the Ford family to pledge its stock and the famous Ford Blue Oval as collateral. His bold move paid off. Unlike its Detroit competitors, Ford avoided bankruptcy, regained market share, and returned to profitability.

3. Knowledge -

A leader must have knowledge about that sector he leading. He should have much knowledge about leading. A man who doesn’t have knowledge, he'll never be a good leader.

If you see the great leaders the read much. If leader doesn’t have knowledge, followers won't take him seriously. So, knowledge is must.

4. Vision -

A leader must be a visionary. Many time he have to change policy. If he is not a visionary,  he'll fail. If leader is visionary, followers will be confident. He have to judge incidents and should understand what could happen in future.

Google has data project to know what could be in near future. If you think about great CEO's you'll see they was visionary. Stive Jobs, Ophrah Winfrey, Walt Disney is the best example.  Here is another story-

BY SETH KAHAN

Visionary leaders have the ability to look into the future and create a map to a new area. Then, they get others to follow until the vision is a reality.

Terry Matthews is, by all rights, a visionary leader. He co-founded Mitel in 1972, and led it to a huge buyout by British Telecom in 1986. He then founded Newbridge Networks, and again turned his magic into a 7 billion dollar buyout by Alcatel in 2001.

He told his children that if they provide for their family, then they’re doing a wonderful thing. If they create a business which provides for many families, then they’re doing a truly great thing.

But this visionary leader is not satisfied merely manifesting his own visions.  He has helped to create many more visionary leaders through his affiliate program. He has so far created 86 new businesses through this program, with an incredible success record: only 4 have failed.
